An extraordinary case was dealt with at Dundee Sheriff Court when William Roy Sutherland pleaded guilty to bigamy. The indictment stated that being the lawful husband of Janet Watson or Sutherland he did on May 29th 1941 in a registrars office in Dundee bigamously marry Anne Brown Thomson Neilson, The Bield, Abernyte.
In 1940 the accused when stationed at Monifieth became acquainted with Neilson who was a nurse. Accused kept company with her until 1941 when they married.....
A sentence of three month imprisonment was passed.
