At the Police Court on Saturday William Rodger,labourer, Leetown Errol was brought up charged with assaulting Thomas Bell, Farmer, Millfarm, Abernyte, to the effusion of his blood and injury of his person. It appeared from the evidence that on Friday afternoon Mr Bell and a neighbour were sitting together at the Princes Street Station when the accused came up and said he could thrash them both. He was told to be off but instead of going he raised a fist and struck Mr Bell on the face so forcibly that he was knocked down and had his face pretty severely cut. The charge was found proven and sentence of thirty days imprisonment or a fine of 30s was pronounced. .The amount of the fine not being forthcoming the prisoner was sent to prison.
