A great distinction for the 5th Black Watch.
Major P.S. Nicoll has done a good stroke of business in the interests of the Territorial movement in Dundee. Major Nicoll is associated with the 5th Black Watch and he has arranged to have the assistance of the Montrose aeroplanes at manoeuvres which the Dundee companies are to carry through at Whitehills, Abernyte during the week-end beginning 5th April.
A very interesting war scheme has been drawn up, and the local detachment of the Royal Army Medical Corps under Major W.E. Foggie and the Army Service Corps under Captain C. W. Cochrane are also to take part.
The flying men and their machines are to act as aerial scouts, and, as this will be the first occasion on which the aircraft will have been employed in a Scottish War scheme, Major Nicoll and his men are to be be heartily congratulated on securing such destination for the old "red hackle" and to residenters in Dundee and the district a magnificent opportunity of seeing the aeroplanes will probably be given.
It is expected that all the aeroplanes attached to Montrose Base will take part and their duty will be to locate the position of the invading forces. To deliver their messages the aeroplanes will descend as far as practicable and drop their messages to the ground. Motor cyclists will keep in touch to convey the messages to the commanding officers.
It is expected that all the aeroplanes descend at Whitehills.
