The Abernyte Highland Games came off on Saturday in a park kindly granted for the purpose by Mr Wm Ritchie, farmer, Abernyte. The games, the first ever held in the district were very closely contested especially the vaulting and were witnessed by about 400 spectators. The games were originated by a committee of gentlemen in the district and were carried through with much success that there is reason to hope the gathering will be an annual one. The money for the prizes was raised by subscription the subscribers giving their donations very heartily. during the day the Pitroddie Brass Band attended and played several favourite airs. The weather was excellent. The following prize list:
